A golden retriever manages to save her owner’s life by lying on top of him to keep him from freezing to death for almost 24 hours. Her owner had slipped on the ice and broken his neck. While many were toasting and celebrating the start of the New Year, Bob was lying in the snow, just feet from his home’s door, paralyzed.
64 year old Bob, of Petoskey Michigan was watching the Fiesta Bowl between Clemson and Ohio State, on New Year’s Eve. I can only imagine Bob eating football snacks and Kelsey having the best food for dogs on game night.
Around 10:30 pm, during a commercial break, he decided to go outside and get some more wood for his fireplace. He was only wearing long johns, a shirt and slippers. His footwear was not the best of choices on the slippery ice. This caused Bob to slip on the ice and the fall left him unable to move.
He started screaming for help, but Bob’s closest neighbor’s house was a quarter of a mile away, and being that late at night, there was no one around to help him. Fortunately for him, his golden retriever, Kelsey, was there to save him. Kelsey kept Bob warm by lying on top of him, and she kept him awake by licking his hands and face. “She kept barking for help but never left my side. She kept me warm and alert. I knew I had to preserver through this and that it was my choice to stay alive.” Because Bob loves his girl and I am sure he feeds her the best food for dogs, Kelsey stayed by her owners side, saving his life and she was also able to keep warm.
