Mandy Harvey is deaf but that did not stop her from writing a song and leaving the judges of Americas Got Talent on their feet.
Mandy has been singing since she was 4 years old. She was a Vocal Music Education major at Colorado State University. But sadly she got sick and contracted a disease called connective tissue disease. This caused her nerves to deteriorate which left her deaf.
So Miss Harvey left music for quite a few years due to this misfortune. But she was determined not to let that stop her love for music. So she learned how to use the vibrations of the music to feel the tempo and beat through her feet. She also uses muscle memory and visual tuners and trusting her pitch to help with singing.
Mandy is such an inspiration to us all to never give up, no matter what your situation is. In the video below you will get to hear her beautiful voice and uplifting song. She was determined not to give up after losing her hearing. When asked what her song was about Mandy says she had given up but then goes on to say ‘…I want to do more with my life than just give up.’ So she wrote this beautiful song ‘Try’.
When she started singing there wasn’t a dry eye in the audience. What an amazing voice for someone who has lost their hearing. I hope this video inspires all of us to be more determined to succeed in what is special to us. Please like and share this amazing song.
